DELMER DARION TELEVISION
Delmer Darion are a fascinating West Midlands-born electronic duo who's textural recent track 'Brossier' reeled us in to their shrouded sonic realm just over a month ago. Yesterday the pair unveiled another sample of their forthcoming debut album Morning Pageants (due out via Practise Music on the 16th of October). Slightly slower paced, 'Television' builds from a simple 808 kick and snare pattern. Ambient samples flutter delicately in the distance like gentle beat of butterfly wings as watery cymbal splashes punctuate the piece. Setting pure-sounding piano parts against alt-folk songwriter Genevieve Dawson’s celestial guest vocals, the repeated line from Wallace Stevens’s poem ‘The Auroras of Autumn’: “this is where the serpent lives”, adds an uncanny element of lurking darkness to the superficially light and stunning track. -Holly Mullineaux
